I Know My Redeemer Lives!

Reading through the Book of Job (which I do every year at this time) can be very challenging. For anyone who has ever gone through a ‘deep valley of depression’ following an intense trial or a tragic loss, his words are so relatable and so understandable. If they are a believer, they know all of the “right” things about God and about how they should trust Him through the trying and difficult circumstances that surround them… but they feel as if they are being dragged underwater by an intense undercurrent, and they are drowning – unable to catch their breath. Job himself is caught in such a moment when he breaks free and claws his way to the surface, declaring his hope to all.

Listen to his faith-filled words, speaking of the blessed hope that every true believer shares; The hope of a bodily resurrection: “O how I wish that someone would remember my words and record them in a book! Or with an iron chisel, carve my words in stone and fill them in with lead so that they would last forever. For I know that my Redeemer lives! One day, He will stand upon the earth as the judge of all. And although my skin has been stripped off my body and my flesh has been eaten by worms, I will see God in my own flesh – my resurrected and glorified body; I will see him with my own eyes, not with someone else’s… and I will not be a stranger to Him.”  (Job 19:23-27, GWT – amplified by JFO)

This is my hope… and I trust it is yours!

Who taught the sun where to stand in the morning? and Who told the ocean you can only come this far? and Who showed the moon where to hide ’til evening? Whose words alone can catch a falling star?

Well I know my Redeemer lives; I know my Redeemer lives: Let all creations testify,  Let this life within me cry… I know my Redeemer lives, yeah

The very same God that spins things in orbit
runs to the weary, the worn and the weak
And the same gentle hands that hold me when I’m broken
They conquered death to bring me victory

Now I know my Redeemer lives
I know my Redeemer lives
Let all creations testify
Let this life within we cry
I know my Redeemer, He lives
To take away my shame
And He lives forever, I’ll proclaim

That the payment for my sin
Was the precious life He gave
But now He’s alive and
There’s an empty grave.

And I know my Redeemer lives
I know my Redeemer lives
Let all creations testify
Let this life within me cry
I know my Redeemer,

I know my Redeemer
I know my Redeemer lives
I know my Redeemer lives
I know that I know that I know that I know that I know my redeemer lives
Because He lives I can face tomorrow
I Know I know
He lives He lives yeah, yeah I spoke with him this morning
He lives He lives, the tomb is empty,
He lives I gotta tell everybody
