Praying for Revival

My memory is failing me these days; “Senior Moments” are becoming the routine. (My 86 yr. old Mom says: ‘Wait till you have a Senior Week’ Ha!) The reason I bring this memory question up is that I can’t remember if I recently shared the following with you all, or not? Something tells me I have… but honestly, I don’t remember. Anyway… if I have, forgive me – but here it is again: Words I came across this morning in my devotional reading which were so timely, considering the spiritual condition the church is in… especially here in the USA. May the Lord stir your heart as He has mine yet again.

“What stops us today from drawing a line in the sand and setting our hearts toward God in fervent prayer that He will come and revive His work in us, as well as in our churches? In a world as tormented and confused as ours, we desperately need God’s wind & fire – the power & unction of the Holy Spirit – to energize us. With sin on the rampage and demonic powers controlling more and more of our culture, we need an enduement of ‘Divine Power’ similar to what God gave the early church. Why don’t we stop rationalizing and justifying the spiritual impotence all around us? Why not rather humble ourselves and seek God with all our heart for a fresh outpouring of His Spirit from heaven?” (Jim Cymbala)

“Oh, that you would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains would tremble before you! As when fire sets twigs ablaze and causes water to boil, come down to make your name known to your enemies and cause the nations to quake before you! For when you did awesome things that we did not expect, you came down, and the mountains trembled before you. Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait upon Him.” (Isaiah 64:1-4, NIV)
