Trusting the Lord

I have been in a familiar place recently. In this place the world is turning… and my thoughts are “churning.” I am back in that place where I cannot help myself and I am therefore left to trust the Lord. This morning (through the course of my devotional reading) He met me with the following which I have strung together – like connecting dots on a page – to reveal a picture of God’s hand at work in my life… yesterday, today & always. Read on and eavesdrop on my musings ~ “God must not know how desperate my situation really is. If He did, He would certainly come to my rescue. But since I don’t see Him working, I had better get in there and help Him, right? Wrong! We are to walk by faith, and not by sight… and Walking by faith means being prepared to trust (the promises of God) where we are not permitted to see.” (Daily Walk; annotations by jfo)

“…but HE knows the way that I take, and when HE has tried me, I will come forth as gold – pure & luminous… for the thing that has happened unto me is appointed for me, and many are such things with Him.” (Job, from the book that bears his name; Ch. 23:10, 14)

“Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, just to take Him at His word;  just to rest upon His promise, just to know: ‘THUS SAITH THE LORD!’

“Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him, how I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er! Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus… O for grace to trust Thee more!” (Louisa Stead)

** Thanks Lord, I needed that!
