“… for He will avenge the blood of His innocent; He will take vengeance on His enemies.” (Deut. 32:43, free translation)
It is likely not a surprise to those who are reading this that I consider Abortion to be one of the great atrocities of our society. I’m personally convinced it’s a particular sin for which God will not only hold us (as a collective society) accountable… but one for which He will ultimately judge our country. He will avenge the blood of the innocent! In fact, I am additionally convinced that it is only because of His mercies that we are not already consumed (Lamentations 3:22).
As many of you know, earlier this week marked the 40th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s infamous “Roe vs. Wade” decision to legalize abortion. We call it “A Woman’s Right to Choose.” No matter what we call it, it does not change the truth of what it is: the murder of unborn children. As the scripture says, “…children fearfully and wonderfully made by the Lord Himself, intricately knit together in their mother’s womb” (Psalm 139:14-15). It’s shocking when you think about it: each year, an average of one million four hundred thousand (1,400,000) innocent, unborn children are put to death by abortion. In fact, according to a statistic I read a few days ago (from ‘prolifeaction.org’ citing the Gutmacher Institute), it is estimated that over the past 40 years, more than 55 million babies have been aborted in the USA. What a sad commentary on the moral and spiritual state of our country.
Because of the Presidential Inauguration this past Monday, tomorrow is being observed as “Sanctity of Human Life Sunday.” Please join me tomorrow (and every day) as we and Christians all over the country cry out to God in prayer, asking Him to move upon the hearts of the men & women who perpetrate these atrocities… and to bring an end to the senseless killing of these innocent, unborn children.
In addition (and through prayer), why not ask God how He might use you to reach out to those involved in abortion, and bring them to a saving knowledge of the truth?
“So shalt thou put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the LORD.” (Deut. 21:9)
