The parallels between the sin & the wickedness of Judah (before her destruction at the hands of the Babylonians) and that of the USA are hauntingly undeniable. Will Judah’s (Israel’s) fate in antiquity be ours in the near future? I believe it is unavoidable…unless we repent and turn to the Lord – and that with great haste. As Billy Graham once said, “If God does not judge the United States of America for its wickedness, He owes Sodom & Gomorrah an apology.”
From my vantage point, judgment is already upon us – and the worst is yet to come…and rapidly approaching. Quoting the Thrice-Holy God via the Prophet Isaiah, He declares “woe” upon them who call ‘evil’ good, and ‘good’ evil; who put ‘darkness’ for light, and ‘light’ for darkness; who justify the wicked for a bribe, and deny justice for the innocent! (Isaiah 5:20-23) These (and many others) are the sins of our generation.
Ponder the following and consider what the Lord would have you/us to do ~ “The people of the land have used oppressions, committed robbery, and mistreated the poor and needy; and they wrongfully oppress the stranger (illegal immigrant). So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one. Therefore I have poured out My indignation on them; I have consumed them with the fire of My wrath; and I have recompensed their deeds on their own heads, says the Lord God.” (Ezekiel 22:29-31)
We are guilty as charged, Lord. In Your righteous wrath, remember mercy (Habakkuk 3:2).
