About ETS412

Our name–ETS is an acronym for Equipping the Saints. 412 represents Ephesians chapter 4 and verse 12 where we find the ETS Ministry Vision & Creed…

“And He Himself gave some…pastors and teachers, for the equipping and perfecting of the saints for the work of ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a spiritually mature individual, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:12-13, free translation)

ETS412 is an itinerant preaching & teaching ministry of Pastor Jimmy O’Keefe whose primary objective is that of equipping the saints. More specifically,

  • Equipping leaders to serve
  • Equipping servants to lead

Additionally, the ministry exists to “strengthen” various local, regional and International churches. (Primarily, these are “sister” churches who are a part of the Calvary Chapel Association.) The biblical model for this aspect of the ETS412 ministry is found in the book of Acts ~

“Then after some days Paul said to Barnabas, ‘Let us now go back and visit our brethren in every city where we have declared the word of the Lord, and see how they are doing; how they fare spiritually and how they are getting along in their walk and relationship with the Lord and with each other’.” (Acts 15:36, free translation)

“Let us see how they do” [pōs echousi] –  Matthew Henry comments on this particular phrase, suggesting it might read, “Let us go and see what spirit they are of, how they stand affected by the godless world around them, and how they behave themselves; let us go and see whether they hold fast what we preached to them, and live up to it: that we may endeavour to correct them if we find them wandering, steady them if we find them wavering and encourage them if we find them faithful.”

Warren Wiersbe renders it, “Let us see how they fare – how their souls prosper; how they grow in faith, hope and love.”

“When Paul had landed at Caesarea – completeing his second missionary journey, he went up and greeted the church, and then went down to the brethren in Syrian Antioch. After spending some time there (with the believers at his sending church), he departed again and went from one place to the next through the region of Galatia and Phrygia, strengthening the disciples (through instruction, exhortation and by counsel) in all of the churches.” (Acts 18:22-23, free translation)

The dual work of equipping the saints and strengthening the church is accomplished by teaching the scriptures in various contexts – from traditional church services on Sunday mornings/evenings and mid-week bible studies/meetings, to weekend seminars and/or retreats. Additionally, it might include conducting local church-sponsored workshops (such as marriage & family, parenting and specific areas of church leadership) and speaking (teaching the scriptures) at regional conferences, specifically geared to pastors & church leaders.

Another aspect of the ETS412 ministry is that of encouraging pastors and church leaders. The majority of these are younger men, who, along with their families, are involved in church planting – primarily in the Mid-Atlantic states, but stretching from as far north as Cape Cod, Massachusetts, as far west as Grand Rapids, Michigan and as far south as Del Ray Beach, Florida – and across the Atlantic Ocean to Dublin, Dundalk, Ballinasloe, North Claire, East Galway, Cork City, Carrigaline and Waterford, Ireland and Ballymena, Northern Ireland.

Additionally, this season of ministry has given Pastor Jimmy the opportunity to lecture on the subjects of ‘Practical Christian Living’, ‘Practical Christian Service’ and ‘The Work and Ministry of the Holy Spirit in The Life of a Believer’ at the Calvary Chapel affiliate Bible College in York, England, Calvary Chapel School of Ministry in Farmington, NY, and the summer “Doulos” program sponsored by Calvary Chapel Miami, Florida.
